JOSEPH IRVING WAGOOSH (FOX)

In loving memory of Joseph Irving Wagoosh (Fox), a resident of M’Chigeeng, who died peacefully at Manitoulin Health Centre at the age of 84 years on June 27, 2017 in the loving arms of his family. Loving husband of Grace Wagoosh (Fox) of 54 years. Loving father of Craig, Catherine, Patricia (Billy), Joey Jr. (predeceased), Ivan John (Patricia), Billy Joe (Nina), and Carol. Cherished Grandfather of Vanessa, Henrietta, C.J., Megina, Jenna, Sara, Amy Sophia, Jimmy John, Stephanie, Katrina, Buffy, Tyrone, Georgia, Billie Jean, Jolene, Bryton, Christopher, Sierra, Serenity, Journey, Shirlene, Angus, Aiyanna, Takoda, Bailey, Rachel, Aaron. Great-Grandfather to Henry, Xavier, Celina, Ethan, Astrid and many, many relatives and friends. Joe was born in Cockburn Island and is predeceased by his parents Sara Migwans and William Wagoosh, and siblings Ivan Wagoosh and baby sister. Joe was a wonderful, conscientious, committed, hardworking, kind, generous man. He spent 12 years at Garnier Residential School, in Spanish. He worked in Wawa, in the Sudbury Mines, was a band councillor for M’Chigeeng in his younger years and later worked conscientiously for many years as a Mental Health Worker for all communities as an Addictions Counsellor. He became a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church in 1977 and was an AA member for 45 years. Joe and Grace travelled extensively after they retired. Travelling to Yugoslavia, The Holy Land, Europe, went on a Baltic cruise, were in the countries of Russia, Denmark, Copenhagen and Germany. When in Switzerland in 2010 they attended the Oberammerergau Play. They also travelled to Orlando, Florida; Mesa, Arizona; Nashville, Tennessee; New Mexico and parts of California to the Dominican Republic, throughout most of Canada and most recently spent a month in Arizona. The highlight of Joe’s life was when he received the blessings of the Pope in Midland on September 1984. Visitation was from 2 pm on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, M’Chigeeng. Funeral Mass was at 11 am on Saturday, July 1, 2017. Burial at M’Chigeeng Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to “Wagoosh Grandchildren,” a post secondary school fund, which can be made at BMO.
