MANITOULIN—Manitoulin curler Jordan Chandler has joined a team from southern Ontario that has its eyes on qualifying for the Olympic Games trial or pre-Olympic trials in 2025.
“I was asked to play for a rink in southern Ontario,” Mr. Chandler explained last week. “I will skip the rink based out of Collingwood.” The five-member rink includes vice Landon Rooney, who has previously won the Canadian Junior championship, Connor Lawes, Robert Currie and Evan Lilly, with all team members having had at least four years of experience playing on the same rink.
“We have 13 events we will be taking part in, starting with the first one in Switzerland in a week-and-a-half,” said Mr. Chandler. “We are looking to have a good start on the season.” He noted the team has its sights set on the Olympic trials. “The top 15 rinks in the country make these events, and the team I’m joining finished 16th this past season.”
