JOHN WILLIAM MAGUIRE

Maguire DeathJohn William Maguire, a resident of Manitowaning, passed away peacefully at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the age of 85. Predeceased by wife May Maguire. Loving father of Douglas (Brenda) of Toronto, Tammy and Rob both of Manitowaning. Proud Papa of Geoff and Bernie Corbiere, and Kyra Linn. He will be deeply missed by his great-grandchildren Lucien Corbiere and Matias Behm whom he adored. John was predeceased by his parents, Owen and Amy Maguire and his brothers, James (Jim) and Bernard (Bernie). Dear brother and brother-in-law of Colleen (late Kenneth) Moodie, Beverley and Ann Maguire, Donna (late Jim) Maguire and Karen (late Bernard) Maguire. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Remembered by his foster children Marie Howard of Sudbury, Stacey Taylor-Blanks of Alabama, and Derek Pichoski of M’Chigeeng. John was a proud Haweater. He was a mechanic with a passion for cars and motorcycles and a hobby farmer who loved animals. As a teacher he inspired and nurtured students whom he helped to excel. He always saw the good in people and established life relationships with many of his former students. John was fortunate to have had life long friendships that he cherished. He was a gentle man who had a true appreciation for people and life. John was witty and had a creative sense of humour. Family received friends at the Island Funeral Home on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 1 pm to 3 pm. A Celebration of Life was celebrated at 3 pm at the funeral home followed by burial at the Hilly Grove Cemetery. Donations to the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, the Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
