JOHN ALLAN FARQUHARSON
On October 9, 2015, John Allan Farquharson went through transition in beautiful surroundings at the Stedman Hospice/Hankinson House Brantford. Born in 1926, Al had a long life that included his four children, Molly, Peggy (Rob) Johnson, Iain (Christeen), and Andrew, as well as grandchildren Meadow Clendenin Stahlnecker, Luke Farquharson Clendenin, Victoria Johnson (late), Matthew Johnson, James Farquharson, Neal Farquharson, Jessica Farquharson, and great-grandchildren Jacob Heide, Ryan Johnson, Alvah Carl (Quin) Stahlnecker, his sister Claire Hobbs and family. His parents were Julia Currey Farquharson and Robert John Innes Farquharson. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Stone Farquharson and is survived by his wife and best friend Jean (nee Mansell). Among other things, Allan was an RCAF instructor during WWII. He spent three years in the Arctic as a DEW line technician. He taught electronics and other subjects as a secondary school teacher. Becoming interested in computers, he developed his own educational software. He had a life long interest in photography and was active in several astronomy, genealogical and historical societies, and Toastmasters, and loved camping and traveling. After cremation, there will be no visitation. Thank you to friends, neighbours and relatives who visited him and the kind and caring CCAC staff at Hankinson House Hospice.
