MANITOWANING—The Joe Cooper rink was the first event winner at the Jeannette Allen/George Pennie Memorial mixed curling bonspiel held on the March 14-16 weekend at the Assiginack Curling Club.
The Cooper rink included second Marc Lefebvre, vice Kim Cooper and lead Jeannie Lefebvre. Runner-up in the first event was the Ed Trimmer rink which included lead Judy Trimmer, vice Marilyn Proulx and second Dan Proulx.
The Don Wilkin rink took top spot in the second event. His rink included vice Dawn Wilkin, lead Raegan Wilkin and second Al Haner.
In the third event the Jack White rink took first place. The White rink included the lead Maddy Niven, second Lyndin Belleau, and vice Ellen Holroyd.
A full slate of 16 teams were entered in the bonspiel with representation from every Island curling club.
