Atkinson DeathJo (Joyce) Atkinson of Mindemoya passed away peacefully, after a valiant fight with cancer, surrounded by family and close friends at Mindemoya Hospital Sunday, September 6, 2015.  Born in Toronto 1935.  Daughter of Glen and Mae Robinson (deceased), beloved wife of Paul, sister of Pat, Clyde and Glen (deceased), loving mother of John, Linda, David and Robert, dear mother-in-law of Karin and Allayne, proud and involved grandmother (Jojo) of Tyler, Stephen, Connor, Marisa, Kristi, Trevor, Troy and Tia, community member and beautiful friend to many in Mindemoya and Meldrum Bay.  Jo will be remembered for her sense of humour, intelligence, strength, loving nature and eternal beauty. She was an Ontario Design Award Winning sculptor, recipient of the Order of Commendation from St. John’s Hospital for saving the life of an injured hockey player, Junior Olympic basketball player, track star, successful business woman and former fashion model.  She was a brilliant light in this world and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Family and friends to gather for visitation at Mindemoya United Church Thursday, September 10, 2015 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Mindemoya United Church Friday, September 11th, 2015  at 2pm with Rev. Janice Frame officiating. Refreshments to follow.  Burial at Mindemoya Cementary.  In lieu of flowers donations to Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary or Mindemoya United Church would be appreciated.
