JAMES LEONARD NAHWEGABOW

“JAMIE”

March 2, 1966 – March 14, 2025

The son of Clarence James Nahwegabow and Marjorie Valerie Francis (both predeceased). Loving husband of Carrie Waindubence; son-in-law to Gordon (predeceased) and Pearl Waindubence. Jamie passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family. Jamie worked all of his life, starting at the Okeechobee Lodge with his mother. He also worked as a carpenter in Birch Island and Sheguindah First Nations. He was very proud to be a part of the Roundhouse construction. Jamie was an avid sports fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, baseball, bowling, pool and also started to sing, drum and meet new people on the powwow trail. Above all he enjoyed visiting and playing with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his wife Carrie; children Curtis, Bradley, Shannon, Nevada, Jalen, Brittnee, Brayden, Orry, Nova, Alex, Sebastian, Mikey and Nimkiis; grandchildren Nathaniel, Arizona, Niibin, Raelynn, Mckayla,  Ariya,  Tyran-James, Tayler Jade, Dey, Gwiin, Danika, Jasper and Darnell. Survived by brothers, Reggie (Sherry), Larry (Emma), Kelvin (Kris) and Harold (predeceased); sisters, Teresa, Sheri, Karen (Brian), Valerie Boyter (predeceased), inlaws, Shawn, Derek, Nikki and Chop. Cherished by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jamie (baa) arrived March 16, 2025 at the Whitefish River First Nation Community Centre where he rested. Traditional ceremonies took place each evening. Jamie’s final ceremony was March 18, 2025 at 10 am. A sacred fire was kept burning, everyone was welcomde.
