Kohyn Eshkawkogan inks OHL contract

OTTAWA—The Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) has announced that Kohyn Eshkawkogan, a member of M’Chigeeng First Nation, has signed an Ontario Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement with the team.

“Kohyn is an intelligent and efficient defender with excellent skating ability,” said 67’s general manager James Boyd. “We are excited to welcome Kohyn and his family to the 67’s and look forward to supporting him on his hockey journey.”

Mr. Eshkawkogan, who was selected as the 21st overall pick in the 2024 OHL draft by the 67’s, suited up in 76 games for the North York Rangers U16 AAA, last season. He scored 13 goals and had 52 assists for 65 points. He also appeared in six games at the OHL Cup, posting a goal and six assists.

Earlier this month, Mr. Eshkawkogan helped lead Team Ontario to a gold medal at the U18 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, and he brought home the Best Defenceman honours while leading the tournament in points.
