ISABELLE “JEAN” KEMP
1928 – 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Isabelle Kemp (nee Thomson), 94 years young, who died peacefully in her new residence at St. Lawrence Place, Kingston, Ontario on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Born January 29, 1928 to Ruby Mae Jessup and Lewis Earl Thomson in South River, Ontario. The six Thomson siblings, Ray, Mary, Helen, Isabelle, Bob and Betty grew up in Northern Ontario. Isabelle is survived by her children Chris, (Tracy), Bill (Brenda) and Barb (Stephen Edmiston, deceased), her stepchildren Julie Todd, Mark Todd (predeceased) and Iain Todd (Kelly), as well as grandchildren Graham, Joe and Cora, Brittany and Morgan (Kevin). Isabelle graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1948 and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, RCAF, becoming one of seven Canadian Para-Rescue Nurses in Canada. She met and married RCAF pilot J.G. Neville Kemp (deceased 2008) in 1952. Isabelle remarried in 2012 to Deryk Todd (deceased 2022). Isabelle loved her dogs over the years, Gigi, Jennie and Susie! Her daily walks, as well as the sights and sounds around her building and being close to the water, whether it was Manitowaning Bay on Manitoulin Island or Lake Ontario in Kingston. Isabelle was an active member of her church and enjoyed getting together with her bible study group. She was a lovely, gentle woman whose kindness and quick smile will be missed! Family was very important to her. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Township Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 435 Davis Drive in Kingston. Cremation has taken place.
