In loving memory of Irene Ann Francis, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 9, 2018. She will be sadly missed by her children Alexandra and Jamie (Shannon). Dear Grandma to Peter, Marcus, Victoria, Hailey and Lincoln. Big Grandma to McKayla, Gabriel and Romeo. Daughter to Marguerite and Vincent Francis (both predeceased). Sister of Julia, Jerome (predeceased), Jean, Louis and James. Also feeling the loss will be many nieces, nephews, Jackson and Friends. Born in Whitefish Falls, Ontario, January 26, 1951 and raised in Little Current until she moved to Toronto to raise her own children. Family was her priority, but upon visiting her she might be gardening, reading, doing a puzzle, or be willing to cook up a quick meal. Irene was a kind hearted woman who welcomed many into her home. She offered friendship, an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and endless time to all whether it was in Toronto or Manitoulin Island. Her particular smile, grand sense of humour and her ability to recall every detail of life’s experiences will be fondly remembered by all. Visitation was held at the Dods and McNair Funeral Home, Chapel and Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral Service was held at Dods and McNair Funeral Home, Chapel and Reception Centre on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior. A gathering was held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Orangeville following the funeral service. In keeping with her wishes her remains are to be placed at her final resting place in Bay of Islands on Francis Island on July 6, 2019. Followed by a shore lunch. Baa Maapii. A tree will be planted in memory of Irene in the Dods and McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
