Indigenous craft market looking for vendors

MANITOWANING—A call is going out to interested vendors to attend a weekly indigenous craft market hosted by the Debajehmujig Creation Centre in Manitowaning.

“We definitely want to see a lot of vendors,” said Charity Shigwadja. The market is being held every Friday from July 7-August 11 from 11 am to 3 pm at the back lot of the Debajehmujig Creation Centre on Wellington Street in Manitowaning, beside the pharmacy parking lot.

“Things haven’t been great so far, we have had no vendors,” said Ms. Shigwadja, who noted this is the first year of the craft market. “We would like this to continue in future years.

“There is no charge to the vendors. We are looking for things that Indigenous people create at home, from crafts, beadwork, leatherwork, woodwork, jewelry, visual arts and more.”

To join the market, call Charity at 705-859-1820.
