Tennis anyone!

The Manitoulin Tennis Club is back in action for the summer. Players meet Sundays at 10 am and Wednesdays at 6:30 pm at the Manitoulin Secondary School courts, to get together for fun and exercise. No experience needed, balls are provided and some racquets are available too. Find them on Facebook, or contact Chris at ctheijsmeijer@gmail.com for more information.

P.S. Chris also left the teaser that they may do some kids lessons in June, and beginners nights as well, but more details to follow on that.

Pickleball points!

The Manitoulin Pickleball Club’s summer season of play is underway. Regular play days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings – 9 am to 12 pm. We play inside at the NEMI Curling Rink. Club members pay a toonie, “pay and play” fee. The club welcomes adults in the community and surrounding areas of Manitoulin who might have an interest in trying the sport to join them on one of their play days. For further information contact George at 705-805-2385.

Coming in June! The Manitoulin Pickleball Club in conjunction with the Municipality of NEMI will be inviting adult residents to participate in free “Introduction to Pickleball” sessions. These session’s will occur on Tuesday evenings at the NEMI tennis courts or inside the rec centre if it’s raining. This initiative is intended to make it possible for people who are working during the day to experience the thrill and enjoyment of playing North America’s fastest growing adult sport. More details to follow.

George reminds us to, “Keep your paddle up and eyes on the ball!”

Pike Masters!

Even with the downpour of rain all day the Wiikwemkoong Anglers still had 23 anglers go out and play!

Congratulations to the winners, including Terry Kay with his massive two-fish sum of 72.75 inches! In second was Jeff Bailey with 66.5” and Tyrone Shawana took third with his 64.75 total.
