Mustang minute!
The Manitoulin Secondary School’s senior girls’ volleyball team finished out their regular season with a record of 15 wins and 3 losses. That resulted in a second place finish as they lost two of the three games played against Elliot Lake. The team is practicing hard and looking forward to the NSSSA finals, today (Wednesday February 14) in Elliot Lake. Coach Mike Wesno, a veteran of the circuit is confident that they have the talent to win but has no doubt that it will take a hard serving and hard hitting performance to come out on top!
Congratulations and good luck to players: Bethany Wesno, Delaney Madore, Nekoma Naokwegijig, Lyric Peltier, Sydney Koehler, Elena Hovingh, Sara Hovingh, Beth Wiwchar, Marjorie Scott, Sophie Bondi and Coach Wesno.

In the youngest, Novice division the Mindemoya Thunder currently sits in 1st with M’Chigeeng, Wiikwemkoong, in 2nd and 3rd and followed up by Manitowaning, Little Current and Gore Bay.
In the Atom set, M’Chigeeng has registered just one loss while Gore Bay, Manitowaning, Wiikwemkoong, Mindemoya and Little Current fill in the remaining positions respectively.
In Peewees, Little Current also just had a single loss while Mindemoya is sitting in 2nd, Manitowaning sits 3rd and are followed up in order by M’Chigeeng, Gore Bay and Wikwemikong.
Up in Bantams there are just four squads vying for the MMHA title. Gore Bay sits alone at the top and Wiikwemkoong is in 2nd, the Thunder is in 3rd and Little Current rounds out the rotation.
The elder states-people of the league features Gore Bay leading the Midgets, with Little Current, Wiikwemkoong, Mindemoya and Manitowaning in their five-team division.
