Alumni game set for Friday!
The Panther Alumni game fundraiser for Lucus Little and his family is scheduled for this Friday (October 17) at the NEMI recreation centre. Lucus is a former Manitoulin Panther player, as well as in recent years, he was the head coach of their Atom and Peewee teams. He has been the main source of income for his family of six so organizers are hoping to raise funds so it will relieve some of the financial burden that comes along with cancer treatment and let Lucus focus on getting well! Please come out and show your support to him and his family.
At this point many former players have committed to making the trip back for the game that will be set up as a North versus South showdown. It sounds like a lot of fun! In addition to the game there will be a silent auction so if you have something to donate to help out please contact Cathy Wilkin at 705-368-3462 or email her at conntess@hotmail.com. The game will start at 7 pm but get out early to get a good seat and an early bid.
Panther Points
Some future alumni Panthers, but still Atoms, had an amazing weekend after dominating two opponents over the weekend. On Saturday the Panther Atoms were in Garson and doubled up on the Nickel City Flyers 10 to 5. The locals then hosted the Nickel City Crushers on Sunday but it was the Panthers did the crushing, eclipsing the visitors 15 – 2. The Atoms are on the road this Saturday to play the Lumber Kings and then back home for a match against Copper Cliff at 3 pm, followed by their potluck dinner at 5 pm.
