STRATFORD—The Ice Angels Midget BB girls’ hockey team attended their third tournament of the year in Stratford during the weekend of November 22.
The Angels squared off against the North Huron Wave on Friday afternoon. The Wave proved to be a challenge for the Angels and the match ended up in a 3-3 tie. The Angels laced up for their second game on Friday evening against the Mount Forest Rams. After a slow start, the girls battled in the third period, scoring three unanswered goals to take the victory 3-2.
On Saturday, the girls faced the Cazanovia Chiefs and the Twin Centre Hericanes. The Angels played their Saturday games with renewed energy, shutting out their opponents 5-0 and 3-0. The Ice Angels placed first after round-robin play and eventually met the West Huron Wave in the Sunday afternoon finals.
During the finals, the Angels relentlessly attacked in the opposition’s end but a stellar performance by the Wave’s goaltender kept them in the game. Despite out-shooting their opponents, the Angels suffered their first tournament loss of the season 2-1. The girls will again travel to southern Ontario for their next tournament in Durham West on February 14, 2014.
The Ice Angels and their coaching staff would like to wish everyone safe and wonderful holidays!
