Haweater car show is a trip down memory lane

LITTLE CURRENT—The Little Current waterfront will be a trip down memory lane for many people as classic cars and hotrods assemble on the Saturday of Haweater Weekend and the 16th Annual Little Current Lions Haweater Cruise In. Once again, Water Street will be closed from the Bank of Montreal to Campbell Street to accommodate the car show. Classic cars from across Manitoulin Island, the North Shore, Timmins and Sudbury will cruise into Little Current’s waterfront and will be on display for viewing from 10 am to 3 pm.

This year’s show will feature everything from the iconic Ford Model A to a new 2018 840 horsepower Dodge Demon. There is also a chance to see a rare limited production 1969 COPO Camero which features its original paint and a 427 engine. The COPO Camero is a rare Canadian car sold new by a Toronto General Motors dealership to a resident of Timmins and has recently resurfaced after 30 years of storage. Rumour  has it that a rare COPO Chevelle from Timmins may also be in attendance.

These special ordered limited production COPO cars were assembled for performance and are very rare and valuable.

The Cruise In has grown to just over 100 cars and features some very rare classic cars and some of the finest hotrods in the Northeast. There is no pre-registration for the car show and registration the day of the show is free; however donations will be accepted and greatly appreciated. There will also be a live auction starting at 1:30 open to everyone with lots of great items available.

To date the Haweater Cruise In has raised $30,000 in support of local charities. The car show will also feature a barbecue hosted this year by the Little Current Legion.
