November 24, 1924 – April 28, 2013
In loving memory of Haroldine Jean Kinney (nee Purvis), loving mother of Purvis and Angela Kinney of Edmonton and Sherry and David Shrives of Bowmanville. She will be missed by her 6 grandchildren Heather, Jacqueline, James, Michael, John and Mary and her 4 great-grandchildren Theo, Adeline, Jordyn and Zoe. Survived by her brother Alec Purvis. Predeceased by her husband James. James worked for the Bank of Montreal and he and Haroldine moved several times, making lasting friends in many communities. The family would like to thank Dorothy and the late Elwyn Dickey, John Raaphorst, Stuart Bourne, Stuart VanHeuvelen, Mark Borutskie, Dr. Hoy, Dr. Osborne, the amazing team at Kingsway Arms, the amazing dialysis team at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and the very compassionate caregivers at Sunnycrest Nursing Home in Whitby. Haroldine has had a long and interesting life. She was a good cook and homemaker, she did beautiful handwork, was a volunteer and a member of Kinettes, a keen golfer, and she loved her church. She always said, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything,” and she lived those words. There will be a Family Service in Gore Bay with interment in Gordon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Community Care or the Charity of your Choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville. www.northcuttelliott.com.
