Green energy will be too expensive for those on fixed incomes

“Our aboriginal leaders just do not get the picture of what it’s doing to their people”

To the Expositor:

Speaking on climate change again, switching to green energy is going to be very expensive and how many people will be able to afford it, because right now a lot of people are having problems with their hydro bills getting too expensive. Just imagine how much you might be paying for this green energy, and if you cannot afford it, will the government step in to bail you out?

People who are well off will have no problem with this, but it’s the people who are living on fixed incomes that may not be able to pay it. The reason for this climate change is capitalism in this world and the industrial companies and corporations having too much power to do whatever they wish and doing a lot of environmental damage.

All the material goods that we have coming from Mother Earth, and every time you go shopping you’re contributing to the problem of climate change. Having a luxurious life is not the key to happiness, it’s about knowing yourself who you are as a person—that’s the key. I call it ‘being comfortable in your own skin.’

Aboriginals are really speaking on climate change, saying that things needs to change but they have to look at all the pros and cons with the green energy. Green energy will probably not do any good, it’s just going to be costly and right now these two levels of government are in deficit. How will they achieve it? Will it just cost more for Canadians to live? Our aboriginal leaders just do not get the picture of what it’s going to do to their people. I know people in my community are struggling with their incomes and even some of those who have jobs but are still struggling with there incomes. It sure does look gloomy for the future—I can just feel that in my bones.
