GRANT MOFFATT
October 27, 1944 – July 23, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Grant Moffatt of Whitefish Falls passed away on July 23, 2024. Grant was raised on a farm in Massey by his parents Tim and Amy Moffatt (both predeceased) alongside his brothers Gary and Greg (predeceased). Grant adored Nicki, his wife of 57 years. Christmas was always about her and he would shower her with heaps of gifts that she would be opening long after everyone else. He loved and was incredibly proud of his daughters Larissa Moffatt and Dana McGuire, and granddaughters Tessa Jewell-McGuire, Paige Eadie and Abby McGuire. Grant was a staple at the Red Dog Grill and was always thrilled to watch his girls compete in sports and participate in plays, band, and any other activities they were involved in. Over the last few years, Grant was rarely seen without his furry little sidekick Dakota, bringing her on daily adventures to the Espanola Mall. They will all miss him tremendously. Grant was a machinist by trade. He worked his entire 37-year career at the pulp and paper mill in Espanola, where he developed lifelong friendships and memories. Over the years Grant played on too many baseball, hockey and curling teams to mention. He was an avid skier and could also cut a rug. Grant was one of the first to purchase a beautiful waterfront property on the shores of Georgian Bay in Red Deer Village. He spent years building his dream home where he and Nicki threw epic parties (on Bacardi Lane), the legendary Thursday night fishing crew was founded, their daughters’ weddings were held and where he enjoyed residing until his passing. Grant had a strong sense of community and helping others which was shown through his passion for volunteering. He was a long-serving volunteer firefighter, driver for the cancer society, member of search and rescue, frequent blood donor, and a Freemason. Grant worked until he was 55 which allowed him a long retirement that he enjoyed to the fullest. He and Nicki took many trips overseas and also explored our country from coast to coast. Above all else, Grant was an avid boater who loved being on the water. The majority of his summers with Nicki consisted of hosting friends and family on their various boats. His greatest joy was Summer’s Dream, his 36-foot trawler. They once took an impressive 2.5 month trip from their home to Ottawa through the Trent Severn waterway system. Family and friends are invited to attend a Masonic Memorial Service taking place on August 10, 2024 at 1 pm at the Whitefish Falls Community Hall. If desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Grant’s name. Arrangements by Bourcier Funeral Home Ltd, Espanola.
