Gore Bay gearing up for 10th anniversary of Harbour Days

GORE BAY—The Town of Gore Bay will be hosting the 10th annual Gore Bay Harbour Days celebration this weekend, July 21-23, slated to be a fun-filled weekend for the whole family.

“From its inaugural year in 2012, the Gore Bay Harbour Days celebration on the fourth weekend of July every year has become one of the premier annual events on Manitoulin Island,” stated Gore Bay Mayor Ron Lane. “Founded on a partnership between the service clubs in Gore Bay and the Town of Gore Bay, this three-day event on Gore Bay’s waterfront offers lots of fun for the whole family of any age with most events, thanks to our many sponsors, being free of charge and the only cost to attendees being for food or drink.”

Mayor Lane explained, “This year will be our 10th anniversary (having missed two years as a result of the pandemic) and it will be our best and biggest yet. Starting with kids’ events on Friday afternoon and continuing all day Saturday until after the church service on Sunday morning, this weekend will be packed with fun, music, entertainment and excitement for everyone.”

“Not to miss, of course, one of our premier events will be the famous cardboard boat races with races for all ages and cash prizes,” continued Mayor Lane. “This year we will be introducing the ‘Titanic Award’ for the best sinking. Every year we have a theme and this year it is Mardi Gras, so dress yourself or your boat (if you have one at the marina) with your best beads, feathers and apparel and join in the fun as what will surely be the best Harbour Days celebration yet.”
