Gore Bay Flying Club hosts Exeter-based group

GORDON—Gore Bay Flying Club (GBFC) COPA No. 201 members hosted a lunch for a similar COPA (Canadian Owners and Pilots Association) group from southern Ontario this past Saturday at the Gore Bay-Manitoulin Airport.

“We had six airplanes fly in and a total of 15 people from the COPA 177 Exeter Club,” said Wade Cook of the GBFC this past Sunday. He explained, “being a new COPA we decided that we should be good hosts to another COPA group and provide a lunch for our guests before Robbie Colwell (manager of the Gore Bay-Manitoulin Airport) took them on the water for a trip to the Benjamin Islands for a visit and supper in the afternoon.”

“We had our club’s airplane out on display and the Manitoulin Transport jet as well,” said Mr. Cook.

“It was a very good event and our guests seemed to be happy with the visit,” said Mr. Cook. He pointed out the Exeter guests received a free lunch on their visit, however, they insisted on providing a donation of $160 to the Gore Bay club.

“We are hoping to have another similar event before the summer ends,” said Mr. Cook.
