GoFundMe fundraiser initiated for long-time NEMI resident diagnosed with terminal cancer

LITTLE CURRENT—The family of long-time Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) resident and employee Tim Moore is hoping that the Island community will help the family with the expenses as Mr. Moore has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

“I am starting a GoFundMe page to ask for help in supporting my father Tim, who has recently been diagnosed with a terminal cancer,” wrote Brittany (Tim’s step-daughter, who has initiated the campaign on behalf of her mother Lisa Moore and the family). “Every day we pray for an ounce of good news but are met daily with the reality that his cancer and symptoms are not getting any better. The prognosis was a shock to the family and the time we have left with him is short and precious. We are determined to make the most of the time we have left with him.”

Mr. Moore is 59 years old and has worked for the town of NEMI for 25 years.

Brittany wrote, “Tim has always been kind, selfless and dedicated to others his whole life. He has been a loving husband, father and grandfather.” Mr. Moore’s immediate family includes his wife Lisa, daughter Brittany and granddaughter Hayden (granddaughter). He also has a sister, Lori and his mother Eunice.

Brittany explained, “The cancer has left him in pain and is now growing rapidly and aggressively. My mother is taking time off work to care for him at this time. Treatments are covered, so far, but travel, medical costs and hotel stays are becoming financially stressful to the family.”

“I am hoping by making this GoFundMe page, they can receive some needed help and support from friends and family,” wrote Brittany. “We are grateful for any amount that is contributed, big or small or even just a share. Please send prayers for this difficult time as well. No one should have to go through this diagnosis alone, and with your help, we can make sure that Tim receives the care and support he deserves.”

A fundraising goal of $15,000 has been set. “About $8,300 has been raised so far (as of May 31),” said Brittany.
