GILBERT “GIL” LAPIERRE

In loving memory of Gilbert “Gil” Lapierre, 88 years, who passed away at the Mindemoya Hospital on July 18, 2024 with his loving wife Jackie at his side. Beloved husband of Jackie (nee Deraiche). Loving father of Robert Lapierre (predeceased), Doug Lapierre of Sudbury, Billy Lapierre (Sandy) of Calgary and Vanessa (Shane) of Montreal. Treasured grandfather of six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dear son of William “Bill” and Lillian Lapierre (both predeceased). Cherished brother of Dave (predeceased), Ernie (Nikki) and Joy Benge (Doug). Will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Sadly missed by his fur animals Toby, Lucy and Max. Gil was a policeman in Sudbury for 32 years who also built his home, helped others and refinished antique furniture. Gil loved to tell jokes and make everyone laugh. He was a true storyteller and taught many life lessons. His memory and legacy will live on forever in the heart of many as he had many friends and family stories. He was a lover of classic cars and going to car shows. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and being on the lake. He had a love of dancing. He loved his family with all his heart and he will be missed by all. A very special thank you to the nursing staff, kitchen staff and maintenance staff at the Mindemoya Hospital. Millions of thank you’s to Dr. O’Connor for being with him everyday and his dedication and compassion. At Gil’s request there will be no visitation or service. Donations in his memory can be made to Pet Save Manitoulin.  Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
