Gerald “Gerry” Thomas Batman, former resident of Sheguiandah, died peacefully at Manitoulin Centennial Manor, on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the age of 94. Born to Mae (nee Connor) and Stan Batman, in Howland Township, on October 25, 1920. Former husband of Wilhelmine (nee Ferguson). Father of Sandra Valiquette (Dennis), Carol Sheppard (Ron predeceased), Tom Batman, Todd Batman. Grandfather of Cindy, Chad, Cara, Darcy, Paul, Robert, Adam. Great-grandfather of Bradley, Christian (predeceased), Ben, Willow, Tyler, Avery, Lindsay, Tory, Garrett, Knox, Sulla. Brother of Ralph Batman (friend Deanna), Ruth Hall (Harold predeceased). Brother-in-law of Francis Batman (predeceased). Will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Gerry was a multi-talented man. For over 40 years he did excellent auto bodywork. He also was a good carpenter; he built the Town and Country Motel in Sheguiandah, made boats and even skis. He canned everything, cooked, and was amazing at making apple pies. Gerry served in the army as a cook and barber. Graveside service at Elmview Cemetery was on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 1 pm. Come and Go Tea, at the Sheguaindah Seniors’ Hall followed.
