GEORGINA FOX (NEE PELTIER)

Fox,-deathAugust 24, 1924 – September 9, 2014

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Ps 91:1-2

Georgina Fox (nee Peltier), a lifelong resident of Wikwemikong, Ontario, in her 90th year very peacefully passed into the Spirit World to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Little Current Health Centre, Little Current, Ontario after a long blessed life. Georgina was born on August 24, 1924 to Sophie and Dominic Peltier (both predeceased) of Rabbit Island on Manitoulin Island along with her brothers David Peltier, Andrew Peltier, and Leonard Peltier and her sister Ann Bryant (all predeceased). Although Mom spoke of her upbringing as being difficult during the Great Depression, she taught us perseverance and determination, always pushing through the challenges and trusting prayerfully on Jesus. She was a Prayer Warrior who spent much of her time reading the Bible and in prayer for her family. She was a well-respected Matriarch of many families and relations. Her presence and wisdom will be greatly missed. She trusted that the mantle of this responsibility is left to the next generation whom she leaves behind before her passing. She spoke her first language “Anishinaabemowin” fluently and was a staunch advocate to retain this beautiful language. Mom is survived by her children Francis Fox (wife Nancy), Jerome (wife Millie), Noella (husband Dallas), James K. Fox, Rhonda Hopkins, Sandra Fox-Browne (husband Peter), Jennifer Fox, Debbie Fox-Gravelle, Patrick Fox and special daughter Mary Fisher. She is predeceased by her husband James C. Fox (2004). She was a Grandma to 30 children, Great-Grandma to 38 children and a Great-Great Grandma to five children. Predeceased by her grandsons Jacob Gravelle and Clinton Fox. She will be sadly missed by a great legacy of many beloved nieces and nephews and was a Special Auntie to many great, great-great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly as her own children. She knew everyone of them by name and always had a warm smile and encouragement for every one of them. Visitation was held at the Rabbit Island Centre in Rabbit Island Ontario on Thursday, September 11, 2014 after 2 pm and Celebration of Life Ceremony at the Holy Cross Mission on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11 am followed by a feast at the Rabbit Island Centre. Cremation will be held, followed by inurnment of her ashes at a later date. Funeral arrangement entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. “Because she loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue her; I will protect her, for she acknowledges my name. She will call on me, and I will answer her; I will be with her in trouble, I will deliver her and honour her. With long life I will satisfy her and show her my salvation.” Psalm 91: 14-16. Thank you Jesus that you have received Mom into your glorious Kingdom. Miigwetch! Amen.
