Garfield Raymond VanHorn died peacefully at the Manitoulin Health Centre on the evening of Friday, October 19, 2012 at the age of 87. Loving father of Garfield W. (wife Shirley), Carol (husband Warren Smith), Allan, and Mike (wife Paulina). Proud Grandpa of Dale (Angie), Troy (Elizabeth), and Sarah Smith (Nick). The “apples” of great-grandpa’s eye, Katlyn and Mackenzie VanHorn. Dear brother of Varley (wife Repha), Clayton (friend Glenna), Beryl (husband Miles Simms predeceased), Grant (predeceased) wife Joan, Bayward (predeceased wife Ellen), Olive (husband Alvin Elliot) both predeceased, Gordon (wife Mavis) both predeceased. Remembered and missed by best friend Elsie Toner, and his many nieces and nephews. Special thanks are given for “his angel” Janice and husband Tom Phillips and Linda and staff at TLC for the support and care. Garfield’s request was for cremation with no services.
