We interrupt this usually pun-filled intro, with a good news story: a certain local ice cream mogul had a kitty go missing a couple of weeks ago. The whole family’s spirits were low, and they feared the worst. Last Saturday, at the evening market (have we mentioned how fantastic it was?!), Sarah J, a young, eagle-eyed Kagawongian noticed that the kitchen light in the Park Centre kept turning on and off. Curious as a cat, she decided to investigate. Peeking in the glass door to the upstairs, low and behold, they spotted a little cat peering back at them from inside the Park Centre! We aren’t kitten around; it really happened! A quick call to the owner, and to the indomitable Tiana from the township office, and the feline was free. It’s unclear how long she had been hiding in the building, but it was long enough for township employees to begin to suspect there was a weasel getting in. Team Fergmeijer loves a happy ending! It just goes to show that with the right catitude, anything is pawsible.
Break out the sunglasses… the shiny new mailboxes are officially installed at the post office! Those with boxes will have to stop in to see Mike in order to pick up your new key and to find out your new box number. If you have been waiting for the community boxes, although they were a bit behind schedule, as of this writing, they are being installed at the three locations around town.
Thank you to the amazing organizers of the 4elements Living Arts Elemental Festival this past weekend in Kagawong. There was something for everyone, and it brought the village alive with singing, dancing, workshops, and of course, good eats!
Kagawong’s own (that’s right, we’re claiming him) Mike McCormick of the Arrogant Worms is hosting a house concert near Mindemoya on Friday, September 29. Friday night at cards was a great night for two people. Karen Noble with 89 points and Murray Duncanson with 84 points won the money jar and split the proceeds. Congratulations to both of them. I am really happy for them. High lady was Myra Duncanson with 81 points; high man was Karen Noble with 89 points; ladies’ lone hands were won by Elaine Bradley with three and Murray Duncanson won men’s lone hands with four and his 89 points; Lisa Townsend had most euchres with eight. We all had a great time together, come and join us if you can.
Saturday morning my husband Rick and I drove to Karen’s in Silver Water to enjoy her yard sale that she has. Rick and Eric had a long, interesting conversation about grape growing. I think that there was a lot more socializing than business.
We drove home, then I drove back, for the fashion show and tea in Silver Water. It was really nice and well attended.
Sunday morning we had a small congregation as many of our regulars were away. But Rev. Duncanson attended and took the service. I made coffee but we were missing Helen Black’s delicious muffins. We love standing around and munching and talking after church.
The embankment has been fixed at the waterfront on the north side but this week the new docks arrived. They are beautiful. They are such a nice addition. Tulloch Engineering and Quantum Construction have worked very hard on this project and we appreciate it. We had some interesting boats come in and several of them stayed several days.
I depend on the store for my regular grocery items, but they are now selling Watkins as well. The vanilla that I bought was so good. I think everyone will know if I bake anything because it will be full of that wonderful vanilla.
