FREDERICK JOSEPH FRY
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing away of Fred on Monday, May 30, 2022, in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Lynn (nee Patrick); and loving father of Kelly and David (Stephen); devoted and proud grandfather of Carter and Logan. Fred was born in Weston, ON in 1946 to Frederick and Irene Fry. Fred will be missed by the many family and friends who cherished their time with him. Fred spent many of his formative years on Manitoulin Island and it’s this wonderful place where Lynn and Fred built their dream retirement house on the land where he spent his summers with his parents and made many lifelong friendships. Their lakeside home was fully equipped with a workroom where Fred could build or fix anything with the precision of a master carpenter (including a working replica of the Chi-Cheemaun and possibly the odd science fair project for his grandsons), as well as his “man-cave” where he loved to watch his favourite escapes on Netflix and Britbox. An avid boater and amateur photographer, Fred loved to take his “House of the Ris1ng Sun” out for a spin around South Bay. The home they built allowed for many incredible memories with their kids, grandkids, neighbours and friends, and most importantly, time together with Lynn enjoying the foxes, birds and other wildlife around Ducks Bay. Fred was surrounded by loved ones when he passed and is at rest now. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Manitoulin Health Centre in Mindemoya is appreciated to show our thanks for the wonderful team who cared for Fred. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer for family and friends. A lifelong Star Trek fan, we end with the knowledge that Fred enjoyed his time exploring where no one (or he) had gone before and with his wish for others to:
“Live long and prosper.”
