Four-car pile-up causes pandemonium in Gore Bay

GORE BAY – Luckily there were no serious injuries in a four-vehicle accident in downtown Gore Bay, which occurred this past Tuesday afternoon.

The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing an investigation into the mishap.

A witness to the accident scene was overheard telling an OPP officer that one vehicle, a grey Chevrolet SUV, had been travelling north on Meredith Street when the driver signaled and attempted to move over to park over behind a second vehicle, in front of Dean’s Valu-Mart. However, the vehicle then veered back toward the traffic and hit the vehicle in front of them; subsequently, this vehicle crossed the street, hitting a vehicle on the other side of Meredith Street (which had been facing south on the road, hitting it so hard it was turned around and hit another vehicle behind it). The wayward vehicle then hit a tree behind the Ontario government services building where it stopped on the lawn.

Fortunately, no one was in any of the vehicles that were hit. The driver of the Chevrolet SUV was taken to hospital as a precaution, but was later released, having no serious injuries.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:05 pm on Tuesday, February 4.

The Recorder will be following up for more details regarding this accident.

Fortunately, the driver of this vehicle was not seriously injured after the Gore Bay car crash last Tuesday.
