Fire razes vacant house in M’Chigeeng

M’CHIGEENG—A fire destroyed a vacant house in the M’Chigeeng First Nation. 

Andrew Corbiere, M’Chigeeng fire chief explained the fire took place on the morning of Wednesday, August 14. “It was an older abandoned vacant home.” 

Fire Chief Mr. Corbiere said the fire department had received a call of the fire at 4:40 am at a house at 217 Hill Street in the community. “No definitive cause for the fire has been determined and there were no injuries reported. We conducted a search along with the UCCM Police Service and everything was clean. The investigation is ongoing.”

The fire was extinguished at approximately 6:30 am on August 14 by firefighters.
