MASSEY—A Burlington man died as a result of a single all-terrain vehicle (ATV) collision that took place in Massey.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) report that emergency crews were called to the scene of the accident on Highway 553 in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, shortly after 10 pm on Sunday, May 12.
The police report the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, was riding alone at the time and no other injuries were reported.
The OPP release indicated, “The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP traffic incident management enforcement team.”
This latest fatal ATV collision is the second recently in Northern Ontario, after a 34-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie was killed in a single-vehicle collision involving an ATV in April.
In 2023, 10 people were killed in ATV accidents in a span of three months in Northern Ontario.
