UPDATE: Hwy. 11 now open following fatal crash
TEMAGAMI – On August 26, 2014 shortly before 9 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on Highway 11 south of Temagami.
A total of five people were involved in the collision, four of them were occupants of the SUV. Temagami Ambulance Service has transported three people to the hospital with undetermined injuries and one person has been confirmed deceased. No names are being released at this time, pending next of kin notifications.
Also on scene is the Temagami Fire Department. The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting in the investigation.
Highway 11 has been closed in both directions as the investigation into the collision continues. The estimated duration of road advisory is unavailable at this time.
A detour is available at Wilson Lake Road and Tonimo Lake Road for automobiles excluding heavy trucks and tractor trailers.
