NOHFC agriculture program update meeting
The Manitoulin Soil and Crop Association and the Manitoulin Cattlemen’s Association are hosting an information meeting to update producers on the recently announced funding programs through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC). In addition, collection of intent for acreages of tile draining and land clearing will be collected. This meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 19, beginning at 7 pm at the Spring Bay Hall.
Free lighting program A $1,500 lighting program, saveONenergy Small Business Lighting, is a conservation program that offers businesses like yours up to $1,500 in free, energy-efficient upgrades/improvements that will save on electricity costs. EFP workshop There will be a two-day Environmental Farm Plan Workshop on Feb 20 and 27 on Manitoulin. Environmental Farm Plans are assessments voluntarily prepared by farm families to increase their environmental awareness in up to 23 different areas on their farm. Farmers highlight their farm’s environmental strengths, identify areas of environmental concern, and set realistic action plans with timetables to improve environmental conditions.
Information day The Manitoulin information day is set for Wednesday, February 26 at the Spring Bay Hall. This meeting will begin at 11 am with lunch provided by BMO.
