Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) food labelling workshop
Ingrid Hepner from CFIA will be providing information on food labelling requirements on Wednesday, November 9 at Cambrian College in Little Current. The session will begin at 7 pm. Everyone is invited who is currently selling or thinking of selling food products to the public. Ingrid will have a formal presentation, but there will be ample time for questions.
Season Extension Field Trip
This is a trip to a producer located near Verner who utilizes season extension technologies. Growing Local: season extension field trip to Field Good Farm, free workshop – transportation and lunch provided. Workshop time/date: Friday, November 4 from 11 am to 1 pm. Location: Field Good Farms, Cache Bay, Ontario. Summary: Learn how various forms of season extension equipment can be used to increase your production on the shoulder season, improve your ability to grow new crops and how to use equipment to have winter crops in a northern climate. Owner of Multi-Shelter Solutions, Norm will be on site at Field Good Farms to talk about the various styles and types of structures that are available and how they can be used. Ryan and Isabelle of Field Good Farms will also talk about how different tools have improved their operations and how they use them. This will be a great session for any market gardener or vegetable farmer looking to increase production.
A bus will be picking farmers up from Little Current, Espanola and Sudbury. A bagged lunch will be provided to attendees to eat on the bus returning east. Please provide dietary restrictions with registration. Please call LAMBAC at 705-282-3215 to register.
