Forage Focus Webinar
The Ontario Forage Council will host a Forage Focus Webinar on December 5 from 10 am – 3 pm at the Club de l’amitié in Verner. Good information for anyone who grows forage and feeds livestock. Keynote speaker: Joe Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence is a dairy forage systems specialist with Cornell University. His work focuses on alfalfa/grass management, silage corn hybrid trials, silage corn harvest management, bunk silo management, and forage digestibility parameters. Cost is $30 per person. Northern Food Distribution Network 2019 Fall Forum
Wednesday, November 27 from 1 to 4:30 pm at the United Steelworkers Hall, 66 Brady Street, Sudbury. Food Distribution Panel: small and medium scale distributors discuss how they have worked to address local food access and logistical challenges in Northern Ontario. Meet, learn, share and collaborate with others in the region to address common barriers in the food value chain. Northern Ontario Ag Conference 2020
February 12-13 at the Northbury Hotel and Conference Centre in Sudbury. Hosted by the Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association. The theme is ‘sharing knowledge, growing together’ and it will be an opportunity for farmers, ag students and agricultural professionals to network and learn. Sustainable New Agri-Food Products and Productivity Program (SNAPP)
SNAPP supports Northern Ontario agriculture and food producers, businesses, collaborations, communities and First Nations to create new products, enhance productivity and adopt clean technology to support improved environmental performance while fostering growth. Funding: Up to $10,000 at 50 percent cost-share for individual applicants or up to $25,000 at 50 percent cost-share for collaborations of three or more. Intake 1: December 9, 2019 to February 28, 2020.

Advancing Northern Maple
The Advancing Northern Maple Program aims to expand the maple syrup sector by enabling producers to increase production, grow markets, adopt new technology and create innovative maple products. Program assistance up to $20,000 at 50 percent cost share towards the purchase of: Food processing equipment; building materials; production equipment; and technology upgrades. Intake 1: November 18 to February 28.
