Canadian Agricultural Partnership support

Ontario and the federal government announced that beginning in March farmers and other businesses can again apply for support under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (the Partnership) for projects to boost innovation, economic development, environmental stewardship and food safety. The intake will take place between March 22 and May 6. More information will be available on the websites of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on or before March 8. The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) administers costshare funding under the Partnership to processors and other businesses (animal health, commercializers and primary agri-food businesses). SNAPP

Intake 5 applications to the Sustainable New Agri-Food Products and Productivity grant program are being accepted from February 11 – March 29. The SNAPP Program supports Northern Ontario agriculture and food producers, businesses, collaborations, communities and First Nations to create new products, extend the growing season, enhance productivity, and adopt clean technology to support improved environmental performance while fostering business growth. Up to $5,000 for single applicants at 75 percent cost sharing, and up to $15,000 for collaborations of three or more entities at 75 percent cost sharing. 

Eligible projects include: Productivity Enhancement Stream, projects that increase efficiency of business operations; New Products Stream, projects that create new products; Season Extension Stream, projects that help extend the growing season or extend the availability of products; and Clean Tech in Agri-Food Stream, projects that adopt clean technology to improve environmental performance. Because of this, they ask that applicants contact their Regional Program Coordinator to obtain an application form. All projects must be completed by December 31, 2019.
