A Growing Local marketing workshop will be held April 16 from 10 am to 3 pm at Cambrian College in Little Current. Do you have a business idea or want to expand your existing food and or farming business. Come to Cambrian College in Little Current on April 16 to learn about key sales and marketing techniques to help your business reach success. Peggy Baillie will walk attendees through key sales elements for food and farming businesses including strategies for reaching new markets, developing relationships with customers, product packaging and marketing. Learn from graphic designer Matt Maranger about building your brand, designing your image and why some products fail. Sales and salesmanship tips will be covered by Brian Bell. This workshop will cover the fundamentals for successful food businesses. Whether you are an established business or a new entrepreneur, it is guaranteed that you will take tips away. Bonus: This workshop is an opportunity to gain access to mentorship services free of charge, for sales, marketing and branding. Attend this workshop to gain one on one knowledge from knowledgeable business owners who can support you to grow your business. Lunch will be provided.

A Business Planning, Cash Flow Forecasting and Financial Record-keeping workshop will be held May 4 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at Cambrian College in Little Current. A great follow up to the marketing workshop, this workshop will cover the basics of business planning, cash flow forecasting and tips for financial record-keeping for your food and farming business. You will be given the tools to develop a road map for getting your business off the ground and to assess whether your business idea is financially viable. This workshop will be led by Maureen Strickland, LAMBAC’s Loans and Business Development Officer and Brian Bell of OMAFRA. Bonus: This workshop is also an opportunity to gain access to mentorship services free of charge for additional business planning assistance if necessary.
