Women only annual reunion of group of relatives will rock Manitoulin
To the Expositor:
Since 2005 we have been making a yearly trip to your beautiful Manitoulin Island! We are a group of relatives, women only, who decided at a family funeral early in 2005 that we needed to have a gathering that was more about laughter and fun. And that is just what we have done!
Elaine Kendrick, of Evansville, is our Manitoulin Mama! She opens her door to her crazy family and is the most gracious and welcoming hostess we have ever known. We are so blessed to have her in our group, and we treasure every year and all the memories we make. Love you Auntie Elaine!
Our adventures on the Manitoulin have been wonderful! We have hiked the Cup and Saucer Trail, combed many different beaches, and explored Misery Bay and Providence Bay. You may have seen us downtown Gore Bay, browsing the shops and maybe a yard sale or two! One stop we never miss is the Manitoulin Chocolate Works in Kagawong! So Yummy!
That very first year we decided a name was in order. So, after much deliberation, and a perhaps a few cocktails, we decided on the Evansville sHOOTERS!
You may have seen us around, as in 2006 I made T-shirts for everyone to wear as we tour about. Each shirt is unique to the individual wearing it! Yes, there is a story to go along with every one!
Last year we welcomed our newest member, who just happens to be the oldest gal in our bunch!
Freda Allen, 98, from Evansville, who now resides in Gore Bay at the Manitoulin Lodge, has become an Evansville sHOOTER! We couldn’t be happier! All us sHOOTER girls have been visiting Freda over the years, and she always enjoys our visits! We dubbed Freda as the “Reigning Queen” of Evansville. She is an inspiration to us all, and we always treasure our time there.
This October 3 is our annual reunion. We wonder what adventures are waiting for us this year?!
Look out Manitoulin…here we come!
