Family dispute leads to an Attempt Murder Charge

(MARKSTAY-WARREN, ON) –On October 8, 2017 at approximately 1:10 p.m. officers from the Sudbury and Warren Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended on Park Drive in Markstay-Warren in relation to a family dispute.

The investigation revealed that dispute had developed between the parties at the residence. One person was injured and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 As a result of the investigation, Coulton CASSELMAN, 26 years of age from Markstay-Warren has been charged with the following charges:

  •  Attempt to Commit Murder, contrary to section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267 (a) of the CC
  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the CC
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC

The accused is in custody awaiting a Bail Hearing.
