On May 29, 2017, at approximately 5:25 pm, Espanola Police received a 911 call from a distressed driver, who had just been involved in a road rage incident with another driver on Highway 6 in the area of Tudhope Street.
The victim reported that the suspect had run the victim off the road with his vehicle and then threatened him with a knife. The vehicles had continued northbound on Hwy 6 and the victim called the police and advised of the suspect vehicle location. The driver was arrested without incident at that location, and was found to be in possession of an assisted opening knife, also known as a “flick knife”, which is a prohibited weapon. The driver was also on a Probation Order, which he was violating as a result of his involvement in this incident.
As a result of this incident, a 26 year old Sudbury man was charged with the following offences: Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Uttering Threat to Cause Bodily Harm or Death, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, and Fail to Comply with Probation. He will appear in Espanola court on July 17, 2017 to answer to the charges.
