Elmer William Hill passed away suddenly in his residence on May 29, 2013 in his 86th year. Loving husband to Blanche (nee Hoover) for 62 wonderful years. Loving father to Jo-Anne (Paul) Haydyn and Charles (Brenda) Hill. Adoring Grandpa to Christina and Joel. Dear brother to Robert (Mary) Hill, sister-in-law Arva Hill. Predeceased by Herbert (Aleda) Hill, Leona (Alvin) Stephens, Hazel (Clifford) Etcher, Julia (Maurice) Hayden, James (Edith) Hill, and Arden Hill. Will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. Elmer was born and raised on Manitoulin Island, where he lived his entire life before retiring and moving to Lindsay. He enjoyed working on his farm and driving for Manitoulin Transport. A life long member of the Evangelical Missionary Church, he served in many volunteer capacities for his Lord, recently reaching his 50th year in the Gideon’s International. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Funeral service was held at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay in the chapel on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 1 pm. Interment to take place on Manitoulin Island at a later date. Donations to the Bethel Missionary Church, Gideon’s International and the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
