Elaine Annie McCauley, a resident of Tehkummah, died peacefully at Manitoulin Centennial Manor on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the age of 86. Born to Josephine (nee Van Meer) and Richard Foster, at Burpee – Mills on June 9, 1928. Beloved wife of Gerald McCauley (predeceased 1983). Loved mother of Larry (Diane) McCauley of Orangeville, Karen (Wayne) Roxburgh of Grand Valley, Linda (Andy) Bowerman of Tehkummah, Dale (Carol) McCauley of Tehkummah, Sharlene Elliott (Jim Mortimer) of South Baymouth, Cathy (Jim Hall) of Grand Valley, and Jack McCauley. Proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Joe (Marie) Foster of Gore Bay and Tom (Joyce) Foster of Gore Bay. Will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Elaine was a very hard worker, she worked many years as a housekeeper and a cook. She worked for Huron Sands making the Manitoulin jams and chutneys well up into her late seventies before she retired. Her heart and soul was into the Tehkummah Hall where she volunteered her time. She punched lone hands for euchre and always could be called on to help makes lunches for functions at the hall. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to have all her family together for special occasions. She also loved her flower gardens, and this gave her great pride showing them off to people. Elaine’s other great pride she had was her two cats, Tinker and Angel. Family and friends will gather at the Tehkummah Hall on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral Services will be at the Tehkummah Hall on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11 am. Rev. Martin Garniss officiating. Burial will be at Hilly Grove Cemetery later in the spring.
