Drug trafficking charges laid in M’Chigeeng

M’CHIGEENG–On Tuesday, April 29, the UCCM Anishnaabe Police and members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau from Sudbury attended a residence on the M’Chigeeng First Nation.

As a result of the investigation a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant to search was executed at a residence on the M’Chigeeng First Nation.

A 28-year-old male of Scarborough has been charged with: possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, CDSA 5(2); possession of marijuana, CDSA 4(1); possession of property obtained by crime, CCC 354; and obstruct justice, CCC 139(2).

A 34-year-old male from Ajax has also been charged with: possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, CDSA 5(2); possession of property obtained by crime, CCC 354; and obstruct justice, CCC 139(2).

A 25-year-old M’Chigeeng First Nation has been charged with: possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, CDSA 5(2); and possession of cocaine, CDSA 4(1).

A 24-year-old male, also of M’Chigeeng First Nation, has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, CDSA 5(2), as has a 31-year-old male, also of M’Chigeeng First Nation.

The two males from southern Ontario are currently in police custody pending bail while the M’Chigeeng males are scheduled to appear in Gore Bay Court on June 23.
