April 10, 1936 – July 27, 2016
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad, Grandpa and favourite Uncle, affectionately know to all as “Dr. Doug”. He passed peacefully, in his sleep, in his hometown of Mindemoya on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Doug will be fondly remembered by his wife Margaret Ann of Mindemoya, and his children Lee (Jody), Lance (Anick), Lynn (Kelly), Larry (Charlene). Loving grandfather to Rebecca, Britney, Nicholas, Jasmine, Samantha, Hannah, Talia, Tori, Danielle, Matt, Chandra, Tiffany and Tashiana. Great-grandfather to Landon, Maxim, Chandler (predeceased), Alexis, Jacob and Isabelle. Predeceased by parents Violet and Lyman Elliott, brothers and sisters Wilfred Wagg, Bill Elliott, Maryanne Gilchrist, Jim Elliott, Charlie Elliott, Dan Elliott and Margaret Hallett. Survived by brothers Paul (Ann) Elliott and Michael Elliott of Espanola. Dr. Doug was quite the storyteller and was always quick with a joke. We will miss his favourite sayings that only Uncle Doug could say. He loved his trips to the “coffee club” and enjoyed many rounds of golf. Sincere thank you to the caring staff of Matthews Memorial Hospital on St. Joseph’s Island, Sault Area Hospital and his final resting place, where he requested to be, Mindemoya Hospital. Donations would be appreciated to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxilary for the extra services they provide for the care of their patients.
