Don McDonald of Silver Water passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, June 21, 2015 in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Joyce for 50 years and dear father of Glenn (Lorraine) of Gore Bay and Sherry McDonald (Dan Strong) of Lively. Don will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Troy (Kamilah), Bridgette, great-grandson Keaon, brother Dan (Ann) of Little Current, sisters-in-law Leila McDonald of Gore Bay and Ann (Lyle) Addison of Silver Water, brother-in-law Cliff McKay of Sault Ste. Marie, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Neil and Whilimine (Morrison) and brother Norman. Don was a hard working man who took pride in being self employed in the forestry industry for almost 50 years, and when he wasn’t timber cruising a good veneer bush in Western Manitoulin, he could be found hunting, snowmobiling or boating on the North Channel. Don was a community leader, always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbours. Don will be sorrowfully missed in Silver Water. Visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Silver Water on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 11 am until time of the funeral service at 1 pm. Interment Silver Water Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, St. Andrew’s United Church or the Manitoulin Lodge Auxiliary as expressions of sympathy.
