DANIEL (DANNY) JOHN WHEELER


It is with very heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Daniel (Danny) John Wheeler on Friday, July 25, 2014 in his 62nd year at the DIAVIK Diamond Mine Site in the Northwest Territories. He is survived by his loving wife Wendy (Howard), his father John (Jack) Wheeler (late Mary), his sisters Sandy Houde (Guy) and Kathy Inwood (Paul), in-laws Raymond and Irene Howard, and brother-in-law Kirk Howard (Heidi). Much loved uncle to Denis and Matthew Houde, John Paul and Katie Inwood and Mary Inwood-Starr (Stan). Great-uncle to Brooke and Jack Starr. Grandson of the late Clarence and Helen Martineau and Gordon and Elsie Wheeler. Nephew to Greta Rydall (Barry), Lyle Martineau (Sharon), Danny Martineau (late Una), the late John Martineau (Cheryl), the late Ross Martineau (Ellen), and Iris Langille (late Bruce). Dear cousin of many and a dear friend to many. Also survived by many aunts and uncles. Danny will also be sadly missed by his Cementation and Diavik families. He was a volunteer with Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics, Ducks Unlimited Canada and other organizations. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church in Blind River at 11 am. Luncheon to follow service. Donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association, Heart and Stroke Canada or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place and was entrusted to Foster and McCarvey Funeral Home in Edmonton, Alberta and Menard Funeral Home, Blind River has been entrusted with all other arrangements. www.menardfh.com.
