Dan Marois rink of Gore Bay wins Manitowaning men’s bonspiel

MANITOWANING—The Dan Marois rink of Gore Bay won the Manitowaning Curling Club annual men’s bonspiel January 17-19.

The Dan Marois Rink beat the Mark Love in the championship game to take the first event championship, besting them on the last shot of the final game. The Marois skipped rink also included second Gary Gilpin, vice Terry McNeely and lead Barry Wall. For their efforts they were presented with the Gladden (Hap) McLennan Memorial Trophy.

The Mark Love rink included vice Reuben Allen, second Brad Ham and lead Lynn Moggy.

The winners of the second event (representing the Mindemoya Curling Club) included skip Greg Towns, vice Mike Wadden, second Dave Henderson and lead Ian Williamson. 

A Little Current Curling Club Rink won the third event final. Bob Nahwegabo was skip with vice Duncan McDonald, second Murray McDonald and lead Sean O’Hare.

“We had a full turnout of 16 rinks,” said Joe Cooper of the Manitowaning Curling Club.
