Manitoulin Selects road warriors
The Manitoulin U11 Selects travelled to Niagara Falls last weekend for the Pete Ross Top Gun Select Tournament. They beat the West Niagara Flying Aces 4-3 and the Belle River Jr Canadiens 7-0, earning a spot in the quarter finals where they came up short against the Paris Wolfpack, losing 7-3.
Team roster for the tournament included: Alexander Woods, Calvin Kaboni, Connor Pheasant, Danika Peltier, Dominic Tomaseli, Emma Souliere, Gazongii Manitowabi, Ginew Pitawanakwat, Gus Spry, Harrison Wright, Rowen Lecuyer, Dawson Hones, Rydell Taibossigai, Trapper Cyr and Zayden McGregor. Backstopped by Reese Roy. Missing players who didn’t make the trip south: Vincent Hemstreet, Ryder Varey and Nixon Lane.
Their bench and behind the scenes staff include, Head coach, Leonard Jason Peltier, assistant coaches, Curtis Fox and Chris Cyr, trainer, Bud Spry and manager, Katie Cyr.


Badminton at the 4-Directions!
The Mnidoo Mnising Elementary School Badminton Championships were held last week, Wednesday April 9 for the senior divisions (Grades 7-8), then Thursday for the Junior divisions (grades 5-6) at the 4-Directions Complex in Aundeck Omni Kaning.
The Senior Boys Singles medal winners included in 3rd Michael Taukei from Lakeview; 2nd Boston Abotossaway from Little Current Public School and Riley Corbiere from Central Manitoulin Public School with gold. Taking home the Senior Girls Singles hardware were: 3rd Sophia Hare from Lakeview; 2nd Myla Edralin from Little Current Public School and first was Nova Debassige from Central Manitoulin Public School.
In the Junior Boys Singles: 3rd Aiden Corbiere from Assiginack; 2nd Noah McCauley from Central Manitoulin Public School and Oliver Wilding from Little Current Public School with gold.
Junior Girls Singles: 3rd Lauren Bomberry from Pontiac; 2nd Addison Page from Assiginack; 1st Brenna Pollard from LCPS.
In the Senior Boys Doubles: 3rd Isaac Lock and Cannon Lockyer from CC McLean; 2nd Reid Hare and Devon MacKelvie from CMPS; 1st was Landon Armstrong and Wade Debassige of Lakeview.
Senior Girls Doubles: 3rd Mariah Loucks and Navayah Corbiere from Lakeview; 2nd Iris Spry and Ava Hartley; 1st Lynndra Madahbee-Peltier and Kailyn Inglis from LCPS.
Junior Boys Doubles: 3rd Tate Abotossaway and Callaway Anderson-Esquimaux from LCPS; 2nd Drew Debassige and Parker Johnston from CMPS; 1st Jaden Huang and Eli Van Volkingburgh from Assiginack

Spring Dance Production
Save the date, Saturday, May 24th for an Evening with the Garden Faeries a production by some 110 young dancers of the Body Stories, dance studio. They are eagerly preparing for their spring production at Manitoulin Secondary School with showtimes at 2:30pm & 5:30 pm. Tickets go on sale in early May, so stay tuned.
