Clara Waindubence (Nee Kagesheongai)


Waindubence-DeathStarted her spirit journey at her home on Monday March 10, 2014 at the age of 86. Born on April 26, 1927 in Sheguiandah. She attended the old school house in Sheguiandah and then on to Shingawak Residential School in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Clara married Gabriel Paul Waindubence (Mizwanakwat) on March 5, 1945 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Little Current. Proud mother of: Norman Peter Waindubence (Oct 27, 2008), Kathleen Ann Atkinson (Dec 14, 1994), Gordon Francis Waindubence (wife Pearl), Sharon Marie Waindubence (friend Leon), Garry Paul Waindubence (Aug. 1, 1969), Marlene Grace Shannon (husband Donald) and grandson Daniel Gabriel Waindubence, whom she raised. Cherished grandmother of 14, great-grandmother of 37, and great-great grandmother of 6. Dear sister of Anne Gaikezheyongai, Julius Negonnegijig (predeceased), Leonard Negonnegijig (predeceased), Raymond Negonnegijig (predeceased), Evelyn Oshkaboose, Eugene Negonnegijig (predeceased), Victor Kagesheongai (predeceased), (wife Marie Kagesheongai), Leona Johnson, Norma Kagesheongai and Yvonne Eadie (husband Lawrence). Clara enjoyed reading, crosswords and gardening. Earlier in her life, Clara did beadwork on leather and traditional necklaces and sewing artwork. Clara enjoyed Bluegrass and Gospel music and storytelling. Family and friends gathered at the family home on Wednesday and Thursday with the funeral service on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 10 am. Burial in the Sheguiandah First Nation Cemetery.
