EVANSVILLE—The Elizabeth Bay United Church held a fundraising turkey dinner July 19 at the Burpee-Mills Complex.
The dinner was a fundraiser for a new heating system for the church. The dinner raised $3,500 plus an additional $420 from a 50/50 draw. There was also a separate jar for direct donations.
Don Nelson, on behalf of the church, presented the 50/50 draw envelope containing $420 to a very surprised and excited Kathy Crowe July 19. He presented the cheque to Ms. Crowe and her son in front of the sailboat Irish Rover that she and her husband have just acquired as they are learning how to sail.
The Crowe family is from Sudbury and they will keep their boat at the Gore Bay Marina.
The dinner was enjoyed by approximately 300 people, and the church thanks all those who attended for their support.
